Maldonado, Gomez suspended for their part in brawl in Pittsburgh

MILWAUKEE - Major League Baseball has handed down suspensions stemming from Sunday's brawl between the Brewers and Pirates in Pittsburgh.


Martin Maldonado has been suspended 5 games for landing a punch during the melee in the third inning Sunday. Carlos Gomez draws a 3 game suspension, while Pirates players Travis Snider (2 games) and Russell Martin (1 game) have also been suspended. All suspended players have also been fined.


Players can appeal their suspensions with the league office. Carlos Gomez will reportedly appeal his suspension.
