Major System Ramp Opens This Morning at Zoo Interchange

The Zoo Interchange has been an area in a constant state of change since the project started several years ago.  Although we are still a couple years away from being fully completed, drivers finally will regain two key system ramps along with an overpass ahead of Memorial Day Weekend.

By 5 a.m. the I-41 southbound to I-94 eastbound system ramp at the Zoo Interchange will reopen following a seven-month closure for reconstruction.

Another reminder to drivers that the I-94 eastbound to I-41 northbound system ramp reopened yesterday. This ramp was closed for nearly 9 months to undergo a complete rebuild as well.

The reopening of these ramps should alleviate a lot of the stress as well as delays that drivers have had to endure these past nine months.

In addition to the ramps, the Wisconsin Avenue Bridge, over I-41/US-45, reopened last night.  As a reminder, the I-41 entrance and exit ramps to/from Wisconsin Avenue permanently closed in late fall 2014.  Motorists should now utilize the entrance and exit ramps at Watertown Plank Road or Bluemound Road.

As with most changes be sure to plan on extra time if you use these routes for either of your commutes. Be sure to follow @ABrovelli and watch the CBS 58 Morning News for the latest on the Zoo Interchange Project and other construction projects throughout southeastern WI.
