Major closings to be aware of in southeast Wisconsin

SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Many places across southeast Wisconsin have already announced their decision to close ahead of the extreme cold temperatures.

There is a Wind Chill Warning for Tuesday evening through Thursday morning.

Here are several major closings in our viewing area:

Milwaukee Public Schools

Milwaukee Public Schools will be closed Wednesday, January 30 due to inclement weather. All schools and district offices are closed as well as all district after school, recreation, and athletic programs and events.

Kenosha Unified School District

Kenosha Unified School District will be closed Wednesday, January 30. All after school events, including sports, clubs and other school activities will be canceled for Wednesday, January 30.

Racine Unified Schools

Due to the record-breaking cold anticipated to begin this evening, all after-school activities will be cancelled tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 29. In addition, the Racine Unified School District will be closed on Wednesday, January 30. This means that all District schools and buildings will be closed and all after school activities are also canceled for Wednesday.

Milwaukee County Zoo

The Milwaukee County Zoo will be closed Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31 due to dangerous weather conditions. 

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is closing its campus starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday through 12 p.m. Thursday. Only essential service employees are required to report to work.

Milwaukee Public Libraries

All Milwaukee Public Libraries will be closed on Wednesday, January 30 due to the impending cold weather.

Milwaukee County Circuit Courts and Milwaukee County Government

Milwaukee County circuit courts and Milwaukee County government will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday for the safety of employees and the public. All non-essential personnel are not to report to work. At this time, Milwaukee County plans to resume normal operations Friday, Feb. 1, and all County employees will report to work as usual.'

Wauwatosa Municipal Court

Due to the weather, Wauwatosa Municipal Court on January 30, 2019 has been canceled. Citizens who have any scheduled court appearance at Wauwatosa Municipal Court for tomorrow, January 30, 2019, have automatically been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

Brookfield Square Mall

Brookfield Square Mall will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and remain closed through Thursday at noon due to inclement weather.

Ice Castles in Lake Geneva

With record-setting cold temperatures expected this week, Ice Castles in Lake Geneva will be temporarily closed. They plan to reopen Thursday, January 31.  

Educators Credit Union Locations

All Educators Credit Union locations will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30 due to the inclement weather. Educators Credit Union has 23 branches in Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, Rock, Waukesha, Washington and Kenosha counties.

The Village of Butler Village Hall

The Village of Butler Village Hall and Butler Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, January 30 due to extreme cold temperatures.
