Madison Man with Parking Lot Rage Pulls Gun on Couple Parked in Fire Lane
A Madison man pulled out a loaded handgun out after becoming frustrated after another vehicle stopped and parked in the fire lane while waiting for someone.
Witnesses say the suspect pulled a loaded handgun after becoming frustrated with a driver who had stopped his car in front of Hy-Vee, 675 S. Whitney Way, according to Madison Police.
The driver and his girlfriend were waiting for someone to get off work, and they had temporarily parked in a traffic lane after activating the car's hazard lights.
The armed man began honking his horn and yelling for them to move as he believed getting around the parked car was going to be a hardship.
When the driver did not move, witnesses said the angry man got out with the gun at his side. He continued yelling and swearing.
The site of the weapon prompted the victim to pull away as his girlfriend - a passenger - called 911.
The suspect, who has a concealed carry permit, went into a nearby store and was located by police.
A handgun was located inside the trunk of his car, and he was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.
