Madison Apartment Struck by 5 Bullets; Children Inside

MADISON, WI (CHANNEL 3000)- A family, including several young children, was inside their apartment when it was struck early Wednesday morning by five bullets.

Police were called at 1:49 a.m. to the 3100 block of Webb Avenue after the shots were fired at the apartment.

Police said one round struck a window frame, just missing a 52-year-old man who was in bed.

The family has lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and never had trouble like this, police said. None of them believe they have any enemies, and it is not clear why someone fired at the home.

A witness told police a young man was seen running from the scene, and briefly hiding behind a tree in a nearby park. Officers found five bullet casings outside the apartment building.
