MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) is "desperately" asking for the community's help, with more than 250 cats in their care as of Friday, July 31. 

They say in the past five days alone, 80 cats have been brought through their doors. Every cat kennel in the building is full, with even more in portable kennels in the hallways.

They say as of Friday morning, 109 of those cats and kittens are available for adoption, with the rest still on their required stray holds, recovering from illness or injury or in foster homes waiting to grow big enough to be spayed or neutered. 

MADACC says they're looking for "loving and responsible adopters who can open their homes and hearts."

If you're not in the position to adopt, MADACC is also looking for foster homes for kittens. Those interested can sign up here. 

"If you've been considering adopting or fostering, there has rarely been a more important time than now," MADACC shared in a social media post Friday. "Every kennel matters."
