MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- When there is a problem with smartphones or the latest technology, consumers often seek repairs before attempting to service their own devices.
Asurion's Dustin Boertman joined us on Tuesday, Feb. 21 to provide some insight on smartphone maintenance and self-service tech repair tips.
Boertman discussed the simplest ways to make a phone last longer, including battery replacement. He emphasized that batteries have a finite number of charges, and they degrade over time. Therefore, getting a battery replaced at a fraction of the cost is a much more affordable option than purchasing a whole new phone.
He also addressed common issues that customers often seek repairs for, such as smartphones not charging properly. He explained that this is often due to lint, dirt or debris collecting in the charge port. Rather than having the whole charge port replaced, a quick cleaning is often all that's needed to fix the problem.
