WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) – Local companies are helping spread holiday cheer to a Waukesha military family.
On Thursday, Joe Davis’ home was decorated for free as part of a national program as a way to thank veterans for their service.
The Davis family was surprised with the gift about a week ago. Workers from Christmas Décor by Swimming Pool Services showed up around 9:30 a.m. to start the job.
“They [military families] just need a little support over the holidays,” Christmas Décor by Swimming Pool Services marketing coordinator Nikki Burkhalter said. “It’s just a really great opportunity that we’re able to do this with our company.”
Davis served in the Army, including three deployments to the Middle East. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and left the military after 11 years.
“I enjoy decorating but it’s a little bit hard for me now being a disabled veteran,” he said. “So it’s nice to have someone come and help. It was nice of them, appreciate it.”
Generac sponsored the Davis’ project and covered the $1,600 cost.
