Local Alderman Expresses Objection to Homeland Securities New Guidelines

South side Alderman Jose Perez and leaders from other local organizations held a news conference on Wednesday to express their concern about the Department of Homeland Securities new guidelines.
The guidelines put more undocumented immigrants at risk for deportation.
"We're a nation of laws, but we're also a nation driven by commitment to shared values of welcoming the stranger, recognizing the image of God in all people and treating every human being with compassion and care," said Perez.
The group Voces de la Frontera is trying to organize a general strike to protest immigration policies.
