Live Twitter and Facebook chats planned for the Great American Smokeout

The American Cancer Society wants to help smokers kick some butts--cigarette butts, that is.

The Great American Smokeout is today, an annual social engineering event recognized on the third Thursday of November dedicated to helping tobacco users kick the habit.

Quitters can interact with a series of fun characters on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Sharecare, an online health and wellness engagement platform founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Jeff Arnold, and The American Cancer Society will team up to host a live Twitter and Facebook chat from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with tips on how smokers can stop smoking. Participants should use the hashtag #quitforgood.
