MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- City officials have broken ground on a major reconstruction project along W. Lisbon Ave. aimed at improving safety and accessibility. Alderman Lamont Westmoreland joined members of the Department of Public Works on Wednesday, April 23, to mark the start of construction.
The project includes the installation of new sidewalks, protected bike lanes and roundabouts. City leaders said it is also expected to significantly increase green space, with tree plantings projected to boost the corridor’s overall tree count by more than 40%.
"This project represents more than concrete and pavement," Westmoreland said. "It’s about progress, it’s about pride, it’s about what’s possible and we work together and invest with intention in our neighborhoods."
Work is expected to continue through the spring or summer of 2027.
