The stars you see at Summerfest say they owe a lot to the technical assistants who help them. Many of these roadies spend more time with the performers than their own family members.
I caught up with one who works with Milwaukee native turned country sensation Danny Gokey. Matthew Scott is Gokey's lighting technician.
Scott says there's a lot of hurry up and wait with his job. And in terms of setting up on the actual stages of Summerfest, Scott tells me it takes about an hour and a half. And half the time taking down everything.
