Lieutenant with Milwaukee Fire Department arrested, charged with sexual assault of a child

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Fire Department is releasing an updated statement on the arrest of a lieutenant with the Milwaukee Fire Department.

According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, Oak Creek police arrested 44-year-old Robert Olson on Wednesday, Nov. 20.  He was charged with second degree sexual assault of a child. A criminal complaint says the victim was a 14-year-old. 

The fire department released the following statement on Wednesday, November 27:

"The Milwaukee Fire Department is taking this matter very seriously, having immediately opened an internal investigation upon being made aware of the pending arrest and charges. The Milwaukee Fire Department has now received detailed copies of the charging paperwork. Internal department charges were filed November 26, 2019. Fire Lieutenant Olson has been, and will be afforded, his due process rights. It is the Milwaukee Fire Department’s intention to move diligently and with the safety of the public and the protection of the honor and integrity of the Milwaukee Fire Department at the forefront."

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Officials say a lieutenant with the Milwaukee Fire Department has been charged with second degree sexual assault of a child.

According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, Oak Creek police arrested 44-year-old Robert Olson on Wednesday, Nov. 20.  A criminal complaint says the victim was a 14-year-old. 

MFD says they are taking this matter "very seriously" and an internal investigation has been opened. 

He is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 2.
