Koenig's last-second bucket lifts Badgers to win

Bronson Koenig's layup with six seconds to play was a thrilling difference maker in Wisconsin's 74-73 win over VCU in the third place game of the 2K Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Melvin Johnson hit a jumper for VCU with 30 seconds to play, putting the Badgers in a one-point hole. Bo Ryan called time out and schemed to get the ball into the hands of Koenig, who filled the role of hero for a team missing many of its best players from last year due to graduation or early entry in the NBA draft.

VCU had one last chance to win it, but Johnson's heave at the buzzer came up short. Koenig finished with a team-high 22 points, while Ethan Happ tallied a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Zak Showalter scored ten and added seven rebounds and six assists for Wisconsin, who lost to Georgetown Friday at the same tournament.
