Driver crashes on I-43 SB, flees deputies on foot before caught

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's (MCSO) deputies responded to a crash on I-43 southbound near Wisconsin Ave around 4 a.m. Friday morning, Jan. 7. They say the driver was attempting to flag down other motorists, but when they arrived he fled on foot through the Kilbourn Tunnel and up the stairs to James Lovell Street. 

Deputies had reason to believe the man was armed, and they dispatched Milwaukee police in the direction he fled.  

Multiple MPD officers converged on the scene along with MCSO deputies. The subject was taken into custody without further incident.

The Kilbourn Tunnel was closed for some time Friday morning during the incident.
