KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Rescue crews working to find the body of a teen that jumped of a Kenosha pier into Lake Michigan have called off their search.

Conditions have become too dangerous for search crews with high waves and dangerous currents.

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In a press conference Friday afternoon, Kenosha Fire Department said that they have yet to locate the body of a teen boy who jumped off the Pier in Kenosha. Multiple agencies with sonar have been searching for the boy with no results. 

Kenosha School District issued this statement on the search:


KUSD is saddened by the possibility of the loss of one of our students. We will continue to support our students and staff during this difficult time. Counselors are available at all of our high schools and extra counseling staff are assisting at Indian Trail High School and Academy.

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha Fire Department says the teen that went missing in Lake Michigan Thursday afternoon was jumping off the pier.

The teen was with three friends jumping into the lake, when two started to struggle.

Three were able to make it out, but the teen boy did not.

Search crews say the current was very strong and even dive teams had a hard time fighting it.

The search was called off around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, it will resume Friday morning.

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha Police are now calling the search for a missing boy in Lake Michigan a recovery. 

Authorities say a juvenile male ended up in the water around 5:00 p.m. Thursday near the eastern pier in Kenosha. 

The search has been going on above and below the water near the lighthouse. Teams were out int he water as well as several search boats. A Coast Guard helicopter was also searching overhead. 

The family of the missing boy was on shore all night with more arriving. There is no word on how the boy ended up in the water. 

Because it is dark out, crews have called off the search for the night.

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities in Kenosha say a report of a person in the water in Kenosha is now being classified as a search and recovery. 

Officials say they are looking for a juvenile male and are currently searching the eastern pier. According to Kenosha Police, the report came in around 5:00 p.m.

Police say the circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear at this time.
