Kenosha man, 81, dies after driving through closed portion of the interstate
RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An 81-year-old Kenosha man was killed in an accident over the weekend after driving through a closed portion of the interstate.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday on I-94 at Mile Marker 336.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the man entered the closed portion of the interstate at State Trunk Highway 11 and began traveling southbound. He then entered an unpaved portion of the roadway with a drop and traveled a short distance before striking the opposite side of the unpaved area.
Despite life-saving measures by a State Trooper and the South Shore Fire Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been identified as Ronald Shingleton of Kenosha.
The Wisconsin State Patrols Technical Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
