KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Criminal charges are not being recommended against a pilot involved in a small plane crash on Camp Lake Monday evening.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, 78-year-old Donald Fechtner of Antioch, Illinois was piloting his ultralight/sea plane and tried to do a "touch and go" maneuver around 6:15 p.m. on October 29. A "touch and go" maneuver is when the plane touches the water, proceeds on the water, and takes off again. Fechtner told authorities that the hull of the plane broke apart and the plane was unable to take off again. Fechtner was not hurt and swam to shore.

He was able to get a ride home from a person who lived on the lake and decided to remove the plane in the morning.

The Department of Natural Resources and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are still investigating.
