Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth endorses President Trump
KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth commended President Donald Trump for his response to the violence in Kenosha, as well as announced his endorsement for the president in a op-ed in USA Today.
"Trump supported us law officers when it counted and we needed it most and I am proud to endorse him as a leader who will uphold law and order," Beth wrote in USA Today.
In an op-ed published Saturday, Sept. 26 in USA Today, Beth said when additional resources were made available to Kenosha by state and local governments, Trump "stepped up and offered us the full resources of the federal government."
Beth wrote that Trump told him, "Whatever you need, it's coming."
"At a time when violence is popping up in communities across the country, picking our nation’s top leader is more important than ever. Wisconsin, and all of America, needs a leader who will uphold the law, or we won’t have a country left," Beth wrote.
In his USA Today op-ed, Beth noted that it is not only him endorsing the president, but 38 other Wisconsin sheriffs as well.
Beth went on to note he worries about the country's future for his children and grandchildren, stating the president does not hesitate to take a "strong stand with law enforcement."
"President Trump refuses to cave to those who continue to demonize law enforcement and scapegoat the police. He stands proudly shoulder to shoulder with the men and women of law enforcement," Beth wrote.
