Jobs Fair for Northwestern Mutual tower project

Milwaukee-- It could be the first step toward landing a job building Wisconsin's largest office building.

The Northwestern Mutual office tower will not only dramatically change the city's skyline, but perhaps the lives of people looking for family-supporting jobs.

With demolition of the old east tower nearly complete, work will begin this fall on the $450 million Northwestern Mutual headquarters.  The project will create about one-thousand construction jobs.  As part of a city financing package, at least 40 percent of the construction workers must be city residents who are unemployed or underemployed. 

While no jobs will be filled at Monday evening's jobs fair, the event will provide potential employees with the information they'll need to be ready once the hiring begins.  The Community Jobs Resource Fair runs from 6-8 pm Monday at The School for Technical Education, the former Custer High School, on Sherman Boulevard.
