Jacob Blake's family and local leaders rally and march Saturday

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The family of Jacob Blake as well as local community leaders and elected officials will hold a mass meeting, march, and rally at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29.

Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes and Congresswoman Gwen Moore will be attending the #JusticeForJacob rally.

The rally comes after days of protests over the police shooting and murder of two protestors. Blake's family encourages supporters to come together for peaceful protesting.

The rally will begin at Regimen Barber Collective, 1345 52nd Street, in Kenosha at 2 p.m. to rally in front of the Kenosha County Courthouse.

“We’re here to demand an end to police violence and systemic racism in Kenosha,” Tanya Mclean, a Kenosha resident and friend of the Blake family who helped organize the event.  “No more piecemeal reforms and useless committees. No more band-aid solutions over the bullet wounds. The time for transformational change is now.”

Speakers will include Blake's uncle, Justin Blake, Barnes, Moore, Tim Mahone, Chairman of the Mahone Fund, local activist Ma'kia Hughes, and national organizer Dijuan Wash.
