'It's unlikely that I'll endorse anybody': Governor Evers gives latest scoop on governor's race during ice cream tour
KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- He may not be running for re-election, but Governor Tony Evers is traveling like a campaigner in July.
It's National Ice Cream Month and the governor has been stopping at ice cream shops around the state. It's not just to satisfy his sweet tooth.
Today's stop was Scoops Ice Cream and Candy in Kenosha. He's come to these shops to meet with local leaders, listening to their hometown issues and their comments about the new state budget.
We also talked to Governor Evers about Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez, who's running to replace him next year.
Yesterday, Rodriguez told our A.J. Bayatpour that she got no advance notice that Evers was not going to run for a third term.
Today, July 30, we asked the Governor about a possible endorsement for Rodriguez.
"I tend not to endorse during the primaries, but we'll see," said Governor Evers. "But it's unlikely that I'll endorse anybody. That's why we have primaries."
The governor also had ice creams stops planned today in Manitowoc and Rhinelander.
