"It's all I got:" Racine man arrested after robbery-related shooting

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Derrick Jamison, 21-years-old from Racine, is now facing armed robbery, first-degree reckless injury, and obstructing an officer following a robbery-related shooting that happened at the end of October.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim was playing basketball with his friend on Douglas Ave, near Success Video. After the game, he went to his friend's house to smoke some marijuana but he wasn't home. He then began walking southbound on Douglas Ave where he was waived down by the suspect, later identified as Jamison.

The victim asked Jamison if he had any weed and he told him yes and that he lived behind an apartment building.

The two walked to the back and Jamison then told the victim to drop his money on the ground and empty his pockets.

The victim told police that he tried pleading with Jamison who had a gun, saying "Come on man, you don't want to do this. It's all I got. I'm just trying to smoke some weed, you're going to shoot me over some weed?"

The victim placed $25 on the ground and when Jamison tried to grab the money, the victim tried to reach for the gun. As he did so, he was shot. Jamison grabbed the money and fled the scene.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound that went into his arm and out his back.

Video from a nearby liquor store captured the shooting and police were able to identify the suspect.

When officers attempted to take Jamison into custody, he fled but was later apprehended.
