WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It was a big night in Waukesha for pets looking for a good home. The "Happy Tails" gala is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County -- HAWS for short.
The gala aims to raise more than $200,000, that'll keep the shelter running strong.
A mobile adoption unit dazzled donors and their guests and the Milwaukee Marriott West.
"It's a special night where we bring our donors and our family together to celebrate the animals, the work we do for them throughout the year," said Jennifer Smieja, with HAWS.
More than 300 people attended the gala, with dinner, speeches and a silent auction. Even if you weren't there, you could get in on it from you.
"We have some great travel items that are available, some neat weekends away, we have some great bourbon packages," Smieja said.
HAWS has been in Waukesha since 1965, serving some 10,000 animals every year giving them a place to sleep, food to eat, spay and neuter programs, and for every animal that goes to the shelter, there's a strong push to find them their forever home.
