'It was amazing': Runners race downtown in the Milwaukee Marathon 🏃♂️
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a great Spring Day to get in a run - why not a marathon?
Saturday, April 11, thousands gathered downtown for the Milwaukee Marathon.
It kicked off bright and early at 6 a.m. just outside Discovery World.
Runners made their way up Lincoln Drive, through the east side and up the Oak Leaf Trail.
Then they turned around and ran all the way down the Lakefront, through Walker's Point and Bay View and ended in Humboldt Park by 1 p.m.
CBS 58 spoke with one man who ran his first ever marathon Saturday, he says the camaraderie helped him get through the challenge.
"It was amazing, seeing people out there cheering us on, people that you'd never met before, never seen before just cheering you on, want you to do the best, so it was amazing!" said marathon runner Peter Chanthaphuang.
As for the winners, a Wauwatosa man took first place overall, completing the race in two and a half hours.
A Caledonia woman brought home a win in the women's category, finishing the race in three hours and 15 minutes.
Congrats to everyone who finished!
