Bodycam: Intoxicated driver hurt after driving into Rock River in Watertown

WATERTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Watertown Police Department received a call around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29 about a car that had driven off the road and into the nearby Rock River.

Police and fire personnel arrived and located a 27-year-old man that was still inside the vehicle. The man was able to be removed from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Department of Natural Resources was contacted and removed the car from the river.

According to Watertown police the driver admitted to drinking and was ultimately arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated -- second offense, among other charges, with some pending conclusion of the investigation.

Clean up continues around the scene where the vehicle entered the river. No other people were injured in this incident.
