Illinois teens arrested in Waukesha County after 5 hour search

Two Illinois teenagers are in the custody of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office following a five-and-a-half hour manhunt.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 17-year-old male and 17-year-old female attempted to flee in a stolen vehicle when officers tried to make a traffic stop around 1:30 Monday morning.

The vehicle, reported stolen out of Illinois, was finally stopped at Waukesha County HWY J and River Lane in Pewaukee.

The female was apprehended almost immediately. The male fled on foot. He was apprehended around 6:50 AM after a nearby resident reported a trespasser hiding in a shed on his property.

The suspect offered no resistance when confronted by deputies.

Charges of operating a vehicle without consent, fleeing a law enforcement officer, trespassing, and obstruction of justice are pending against the youths.
