'I want you to want me': Cheap Trick announced as Summerfest headliner

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Summerfest has announced Cheap Trick as the headliner for the BMO Pavilion with Miller Lite on Thursday, June 22.

Cheap Trick is a hit-making rock band founded in 1974. The band, consisting of Robin Zander on vocals and rhythm guitar, Rick Nielsen on lead guitar, Tom Petersson on bass guitar and Daxx Nielsen on drums is known for their influential brand of pop rock.

The band has record sales exceeding 20 million, and more than 40 international gold and platinum certifications.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 in recognition of their reputation of having a pioneering sound and numerous hit songs, including "Surrender" and "I Want You to Want Me." Rolling Stone praised their induction performance, saying, "Their smoking three-song set (was) played to perfection, with Zander hitting all the notes he hit at Budokan back in 1978."

Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.com, Summerfest.com and in person at the Summerfest Box Office. Admission to Summerfest on the day of the performance is included with the cost of a ticket.
