I-41 in Zoo Interchange reopens sooner than planned

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) had announced it reopened the northbound lanes along I-41/US 45 between Watertown Plank Road and Burleigh Street sooner than expected.

The lanes opened at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, with the southbound lanes reopening early Sunday morning.

According to a news release from the WisDOT, construction crews were able to complete the required work sooner than anticipated due to coordination with the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and the Zoo IC project team.

As of Saturday evening, the project staff was working with the contractor to finish concrete work on the southbound lanes to allow for the reopening of the lanes south from Burleigh Street.

The removal of the UPRR bridge over I-41/ US45 was the central focus of this weekend project.  For other traffic conditions around the area, click here.
