Husar's House of Fine Diamonds in West Bend the scene of a smash and grab

Police say there was a smash and grab at the well known jewelry store "Husar's House of Fine Diamonds" Monday afternoon around 4.

Five men walked into the store on Main street and smashed a glass counter with hammers.

Initial reports indicate they took several watches.

Nobody in the store was hurt.

They all piled into a tan minivan and left the scene. That vehicle was found a short time later, just a few blocks away.

Turns out the mini van was stolen earlier in the day.

There are no suspects in custody.

As of 10 p.m., there was at least one officer still on scene. A worker was also visible inside the store, presumably to make repairs.

The store is a staple of the community.

As shared on it's official website, Marvin Husar purchased  a 200-square-foot jewelry store in 1951.

"He firmly kept his commitment to remaining in downtown West Bend … later moving Husar's House of Fine Diamonds four times and renovating his store seven times. Our most recent expansion transformed Husar's House of Fine Diamonds into a 15,000-square-foot store. After Marvin Husar passed away in 2010, the torch was passed on to his son and daughter, who continue to honor the legacy their father left behind. Today, Husar's House of Fine Diamonds is the largest independent jewelry store in Wisconsin."
