MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hunger Task Force received a $2.5 million grant to create the Connecting Farms to Families program, which links nonprofit food assistance programs with local producers. Dr. Reno Wright, public policy and advocacy director, joined us Friday, Feb. 13 to offer details.
The funding comes from a $10 million investment in Wisconsin's 2025-27 state budget created by Gov. Tony Evers and the state legislature. Hunger Task Force will use 100% of grant funds to support hunger relief programs across Wisconsin, including food pantries, meal programs, nonprofit organizations and Tribal Nations.
All food purchased will come from small and mid-sized Wisconsin farmers and producers and will be provided free of charge to hunger relief programs.
