Hundreds climb Am Fam Field for American Lung Association

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --The American Lung Association in Wisconsin's iconic Fight For Air Climb raised more than $416 thousand dollars on Saturday, May 22, in Milwaukee.

The event is normally held at the U.S. Bank Center, but due to the pandemic, it was held outdoors for the first time at American Family Field.

More than 730 people participated in this year's event.

People were tasked with climbing more than 14-hundred stairs to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.

"We really like to show people, every day people and people with lung disease what it feels like to have lung disease so you're climbing up stairs," said Megan Cordova of the American Lung Association in Wisconsin. "You might have to breathe a little bit harder and that's what people with lung disease has to deal with every single day."

The money raised today will also go to supporting the lung association's covid-19 action initiative, an effort to protect against future respiratory virus pandemics.
