MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The newly expanded Baird Center is expected to lure thousands of visitors to Milwaukee each year.
On Saturday, May 18, the public got a chance to check out the massive expansion.
The expansion cost more than $450 million, and the Baird Center says hundreds of people attended the open house to see the new space and artwork.
CEO of the Wisconsin Center District, Marty Brooks says inclusivity was a major point of the expansion.
The Baird Center now has gender neutral bathrooms, nursing rooms, and sensory rooms.
"You have a very diverse group of people that come to the different events we have here, and we want to make sure everyone feels welcome regardless of what their sexual preference is, regardless of if they're a nursing mother or not. We want to make sure they feel this a place for them to come to and feel comfortable in," said Brooks.
The expansion is expected to attract 100,000 of out of state visitors every year.
