How to add emergency information on your smartphone

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) – In an emergency, every second counts and having vital information on hand can sometimes make all the difference in a life or death situation.

In an age where nearly everyone carries a smartphone, phone creators are now making it easier than ever to make sure loved ones, first responders, and good Samaritans can access your information quickly in case of an emergency.

For Android phones, a feature was added for devices running Android Nougat 7.0 and above called “Emergency Information” which can be found under “Users” in the Settings menu. Because device makers may run slightly different versions of Android, emergency contact information may also be able to be added in the Contacts app with some phone models offering the ability to add information like medical conditions, blood type, and medications. There are also a number of apps that can be downloaded from Google Play that allow users to have this information on their phone.
