MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County helped elementary school students start their week off with some holiday cheer.
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley stopped by Keefe Avenue School to color and decorate ornaments that will be hung on the 2024 Milwaukee County Holiday Tree.
This year's design of the paper ornaments was created with the idea of "international celebration" in mind.
The artist who designed them says he identified sharing a meal as a universal language and used elements of food from around the world to make up the ornament's imagery.
"We want to be able to celebrate our diversity. Also, during the holiday season not everyone celebrates Christmas, they have their own different holidays because of different cultures we have. We wanted to make this inclusive as possible, so why not do that with one thing everyone likes to do, which is eat," said Crowley.
The 2024 Milwaukee County Holiday Tree lighting ceremony will be held on Monday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. in the Milwaukee County Courthouse rotunda.
