Home Fire Campaign kicks off Fire Prevention Week

Today is the first day of Fire Prevention Week and the Red Cross is using the occasion to share the success of its "Home Fire Campaign."

Nationwide, the program is credited with saving at least 26 lives in the past year by providing free smoke alarms.

In Wisconsin the Red Cross has helped install more than one-thousand smoke alarms.

The Red cross hopes to expand its reach next year and install more than 2500 new smoke detectors in our state.

It's never too early to learn about fire safety to kick off Fire Prevention Week in Milwaukee the Mayor and Fire Chief joined second graders from Engleburg School at the Survive Alive House.  The event also marked the kick off of the Fire Department's Community Risk Reduction Program with the American Red Cross.
