'Home and Habitat Fest' scheduled at Havenwoods State Forest
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority are hosting the second annual "Home and Habitat Fest."
Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30, it will take place at Havenwoods State Forest in Milwaukee from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The gathering will offer free food, live music and family-friendly activities, primarily focusing on housing and natural resource education.
Havenwoods State Forest, a 237-acre area featuring forests, prairies and wetlands, is located in northwest Milwaukee. The event aims to provide the community with resources about homeownership, rental issues and improving local habitats. Attendees can also participate in a variety of activities including informational booths from multiple organizations, an animal meet-and-greet, a scavenger hunt and a drum circle.
Guest speakers will discuss housing initiatives and habitat improvement projects in Milwaukee.
The event is open to the public. Pre-registration is required for a neighborhood bus tour happening from 8:30 to 11 a.m., which will provide insights into the home buying process in the Havenwoods area.
