High-speed pursuit in Racine County exceeds 125 mph, suspect faces multiple charges
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In a northbound high-speed chase on I-94 in Racine County, a vehicle reached speeds exceeding 125 mph, prompting a response from the Racine Sheriff's Office.
Officials report that the chase began on Tuesday, July 18 at around 12:37 a.m., as a deputy attempted to halt a white Infiniti traveling at high speeds. Despite initial attempts, the Infiniti accelerated, turning off its lights while evading the deputies.
After a successful spike strip deployment, the vehicle reportedly lost its rear tire and ultimately crashed into the front yard of Borzynki’s Farm and Floral Market.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Christopher R. Moore Jr. from Chicago, is reported to have then fled the crash scene, leading to an extensive search involving a drone and K-9 units.
Moore was later found in a densely forested area and detained without further escalation.
Upon investigation, deputies discovered a loaded Glock 23 on the vehicle's front passenger floorboard.
Moore, now held at Racine County Jail on a $15,800 bail, faces multiple charges, including vehicle theft, recklessly endangering safety, resisting an officer, carrying a concealed weapon and fleeing officers.
Officials report that assistance in the pursuit was provided by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sturtevant Police Department.
