MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Potawatomi Hotel and Casino is announcing a new partner as part of the 2019 Heart of Canal Street campaign.
Sojourner Family Peace Center will receive $100,000 benefiting their programs for domestic violence victims.
The organization says they'll use the money to pay for this year's Camp Hope, which gives kids struggling with domestic violence a weekend experience to help cope with trauma.
"We never get anywhere alone in our life," Sojourner Family Peace Center CEO Carmen Pitre said. "We get there better when we go together, and I'm really, really grateful for the partnership, and I'm looking forward to exciting things over this next year as we grow the camp into monthly activities and one-on-one mentoring for the kids."
This year's Camp Hope Wisconsin is planned for September. Money for the donation primarily comes from the Canal Street bingo game at the casino.
