Head-on collision leaves 1 dead in Jefferson County, road conditions said to be factor

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person has died after a crash in the Town of Oakland Tuesday, Jan. 9.
It happened around 5:40 a.m., according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, on State Highway 18 at Hope Lake Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a semi was traveling eastbound on Highway 18 and an SUV was traveling westbound on Highway 18 when a head-on collision occurred.
Officials say road conditions were a contributing factor in the crash.
The driver of the truck was uninjured. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation remains ongoing.
