Hart Park among Wauwatosa sites facing extended flood repairs

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The City of Wauwatosa estimates $9 million in flood damage to public property, including Hart Park, following recent severe weather. City officials said Friday, Aug. 15 that they are working with their insurance provider on related claims.
Hart Park is expected to partially reopen within seven to 10 days, but several areas will remain closed for an extended period, including Hart Park Stadium, parts of the playground, the softball field and portions of the parking lot.
Other facilities, such as the Muellner Building basement and Rotary Stage, also face long repair timelines.
Officials emphasized that people should not attempt to step on unsafe ground, as one injury has already been suffered by someone who entered an unsafe area in the park.
Curbside collection of flood-damaged items will continue through Sunday, Aug. 24. The city is directing residents to local and small business assistance programs while awaiting news on state or federal aid.
