HALES CORNERS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A pizza place in Hales Corners is hosting a fundraiser Friday, Dec. 27, to help a family going through a difficult time.
Forty-one-year-old Elvis Mejia died in a rollover crash in Eau Claire two weeks ago. His wife, Amy, is recovering from injuries suffered in the crash which has prevented her from working.
Elvis leaves behind four children, and the couple had recently moved into a new home. That, along with unexpected funeral costs, have only added to the tragedy. So "9th Slice Pizza Company" decided to step in.
"Ninth slice in general and the ownership group here is all about giving back to the community and making sure that we can help and support anybody we can in any way we can," said owner Gary Plassmeyer.
The fundraiser runs until 9 p.m. Dec. 27. The restaurant is located on South 108th Street, three blocks south of Grange.
