MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Community leaders gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony at Melvina Park on Wednesday, May 3.
The groundbreaking marks the beginning of major improvements and expansion to the park.
The upgraded park will cover just under four acres and include some new amenities like shaded event space, a multipurpose court, and nature-based play areas.
City leaders say the space will give the near north side a much-needed facelift.
The improvements will be made possible by city investment and the generosity of Quad and other community donors.
