GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Greenfield Police Department announced the unexpected death of well-known and beloved therapy K-9, Gizmo, Wednesday, Aug. 5. 

Gizmo served alongside Officer Aasterud from 2020-2026 and was known to bring comfort, smiles, and compassion to Whitnall High School and the City of Greenfield. 

"Whether he was comforting a student, brightening someone’s day, or simply offering a wagging tail during a difficult moment, Gizmo had an incredible gift for making people feel safe, seen, and loved," Greenfield Police said in a post.

Police say Gizmo wasn't just a K-9, but he was a friend and cherished member in the Greenfield community.
