Greenfield man found not competent for 2nd time following 2019 fatal stabbing

Greenfield police

GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The man at the center of a public safety scare in Greenfield is once again being found not competent to stand trial.

Amando Lang's case started when he allegedly stabbed a Madison man to death back in 2019.

That same year, he was found incompetent and was sent to a mental health facility.

Fast forward to 2025, Greenfield police came across Lang while responding to a person in crisis call.

That's when they discovered he had been released to a low security facility, despite local officials not getting a proper notice.

Now that he's been found incompetent for the second time, his case moves ahead to a plea hearing.

That's now scheduled for mid-December.
