MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sprecher Brewing’s Green River Soda remains a St. Patrick’s Day favorite across the Midwest. The bright green, citrus-flavored soft drink has been associated with the holiday for decades.
Jenny Nyquist of Sprecher Brewing discussed Green River’s history and St. Patrick’s Day popularity when she joined us on Thursday, March 13.
The soda was originally produced by the Schoenhofen Edelweiss Brewing Company in Chicago during Prohibition and changed ownership multiple times before Sprecher acquired it from Wit Beverage in 2021.
