GreekFest canceled as State Fair Park turns into makeshift hospital for COVID-19 patients

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church has announced the cancellation of the 55th annual GreekFest 2020.

The State Fair Park grounds will be unavailable while in use as a makeshift hospital for those being treated for COVID-19.

GreekFest was scheduled to be held from June 19-21, however State Fair officials could not guarantee the availability of the grounds due to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's needs.

“In addition to our fervent prayer for all those directly and indirectly affected by Covid-19, as well as the selfless medical care and service workers, our Annunciation Parish family is committed to doing everything we can to participate in the joint effort to restore life back to normal in our beloved Milwaukee community and beyond,” said Father Ciprian Sas, Parish Priest of Annunciation.
