GRAMMY Award-Winning Trumpeter Randy Brecker

FREE JAZZ CLINIC with area high school students.
Cascio Interstate Music SuperStore, 13819 W. National Ave. in New Berlin, along with Yamaha Musical Instruments, present seasoned jazz veteran Randy Brecker, a six-time GRAMMY® Award-winning virtuosic trumpeter, flugelhornist and prolific composer.

Randy will appear on Cascio's stage from 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday, February 17 for a FREE Jazz Masterclass Clinic and Performance. Randy will begin the clinic with solo performances, and will then instruct and perform with students in their jazz ensembles from Hartford Union High School at 4 p.m., Arrowhead Union High School at 5:15 p.m., and Oconomowoc High School at 6:30 p.m.

Brecker will take each school's ensemble on a “jazz adventure” for an hour, teaching proven techniques as the students are personally guided through their performance pieces. A key component to his clinic will be swinging and bop phrasing articulation. The event is free and open to the public, featuring prize giveaways plus photo and autograph opportunities. Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early, as seating and parking are limited.

\"We are extremely pleased to present six-time GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker and give these schools and students the exclusive chance to play with an artist of Randy's caliber,” said Michael Houser, Cascio’s CEO. “Randy's appearance precedes his upcoming concert March 29 with jazz musicians of the Newport Jazz Festival’s 60th Anniversary at the Wilson Center in Brookfield.\"

Randy Brecker has been shaping the sound of Jazz, R&B and Rock for more than 4 decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament/Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Jaco Pastorius and Frank Zappa. Randy released “Brecker Brothers Band Reunion” on Piloo Records in the fall of 2013, featuring a live DVD recorded at the Blue Note in NYC bundled with a new 11-song studio recording featuring members of the Brecker Brothers bands from throughout the years including David Sanborn, Mike Stern, Will Lee, and Dave Weckl.
