First cold weather advisory of the season has been issued!
GRAFTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Tuesday, Dec. 1 marked the beginning of winter parking enforcement in the Village of Grafton.
But the Grafton Police Department shared a special offer via social media Thursday, for those unfortunate parking ticket recipients.
During the month of December only, all parking ticket fines will be reduced by 50%, according to Chief of Police Jeff Caponera. The remaining price can then be paid in the form of canned goods or other staples equal to the remaining fine amount.
For example, a $20 fine will be reduced to $10. The department says to satisfy that fine, you must bring in $10 worth of canned food or other staples which will then be donated to Family Sharing of Ozaukee County, Inc. for families struggling this holiday season.
"One of the things that we want to let our neighbors here know is that we are compassionate, we sympathize with what they are going through, we realize there are a lot of folks that are less fortunate than us, and if we can do anything to give back to the community, that's what we want to do," said Chief Caponera.
To be eligible, police say you must have received a ticket in November or December, and they must be taken care of by Jan. 15, 2021.
