Grafton man taken into protective custody after threatening to harm self, family member

GRAFTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say a 36-year-old Grafton man was taken into protective custody Monday, April 29, following an incident near Spring Street and 5th Avenue. 

Officers responded to the area just before noon, when police say the man, armed with a firearm, threatened suicide and harm to a family member. 

Police evacuated nearby homes and notified local schools for precautionary measures. 

The man was taken into protective custody with help from the Ozaukee County Special Response Team and will be taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. 

Officials say the case will be referred to the DA's office for review of criminal charges.
